Indian Mound Park, St Paul, MNIndian Mound Park and "Carver's Cave" in
St Paul, Minnesota,
overlooking a bend in the Mississippi River. Carver's Cave
had petroglyphs, but the soft stone crumbled, and later it was used by
a brewer to cool beer, and the railroad obliterated the entry.
But some of the mounds on the ridge above the cave were
saved.

"The entrance to the cave is at present blocked by a
railroad track. Its capacious chamber is filled with beer barrels. Its
pearly stream has ceased to flow. It is slowly dying of I civilization,
and in a few years will be known only in history, ... and the landmarks
of the past are obliterated by the swelling wave of the human race"
(Newson, 1886, p. 5).

Aztalan occupied approximately 900 to 1200 C.E. Cahokia
occupied longer, approx 700 to 1400 C.E. Woodland Indians who
built effigy, linear and conical mounds were here first. Who were the
